Men and skin care aren’t two words often heard in the same sensitive, and if they are, it tends to go a little something like this, “My men’s skin care routine consists of washing my face with water and body wash or a bar of soap”.
…Washing my face with body wash. Let’s just think about that for a second, guys. While we understand convenience is a key to getting your day going in the morning, a product for your body or a bar of soap should never be used on your face.
So, allow us to give you a bit of a crash course on skincare for men. Don’t worry. We aren’t going to get into some niche jargon or any of that nonsense that your partner has probably already preached to you. Instead, here’s a quick breakdown on how this whole “men’s skin care/beauty/proper hygiene” thing goes.
Forbid the Body Wash and Bar of Soap on your Face
The first place to start is with your body wash or bar of soap. It’s shocking how many men wash head-to-toe with the same product. So, put down the body wash bottle! It’s not doing any good for your face.
Instead, use specific men's facial products. Yes, facial products. The ingredients in the Ultra Power Cream Cleanser will lift grime and dirt from your pores, leaving your skin clean and hydrated. The formula also includes skin care ingredients to reduce your pore size and therefore signs of aging, which you may or may not care about, but it’s an added bonus you’ll appreciate once you see the results.
Now that you know what kind of men’s facial products to use, it’s time to use them properly. It’s important to clean your skin at least twice a day – morning and night. While it may seem like a drag to tackle on yet another task at the end of the day, washing your face takes a couple minutes and the benefits are worth it. Nighttime cleansing is even more crucial if you do manual work, as the dirt and grime sits in your pores overnight building up bacteria.
So, splash warm water on your face prior to washing to open up your pores. Then, using your men’s facial products, rub the cleanser on your face in small circles with your fingertips. Rinse, pat dry, and you’re done.
To be fair, your new men’s skin care regime isn’t completely done after washing, but you’re half way there. You need some moisturizer too and it’s as simple as rubbing facial moisturiser for men into your skin. This is important because it’s going to keep your skin smooth and hydrated, which will also improve the general health and appearance of your skin.
The formula in the Men's Botanics moisturiser includes antioxidants that’ll protect your skin against environmental stress. This is beneficial for everyone since pollution and UV rays can’t be avoided, but even more so for blue collar men who are subjected to more toxins on a regular basis.
Exfoliating is a term you may have heard your partner use on the regular, yet you still have no idea what it means. Exfoliating is the process of deep cleaning your skin. It removes dead skin cells, dirt, grime, funk, gunk or whatever else you have hibernating in your pores.
As such, it’s not as gentle on your skin as the daily cleanser. So, exfoliating should only be done one to three times a week. We like to recommend using an exfoliating face scrub prior to shaving, as it’ll discourage bumps and ingrown hairs.
And now your new skincare for men regime is officially complete. Well, unless you want to get more in-depth with your skincare and tackle specific concerns. Either way, Men’s Botanics is where you can grab all of your men’s facial products so you can stop using body wash on your face.
